Our Bicentennial Celebration

The 200th anniversary of the Church of Christ at Nottingham West (now the First Baptist Church of Hudson, NH) will be May 1, 2005. Our Bicentennial is a church wide celebration that began in 2004 and will continue through 2005.

Last August we participated in Hudson's Old Home Days Parade. Our church float featured the refurbished bell, our bicentennial banner, a floral archway, and a model of our altar. Our Junior Bell Notes as well as members and friends of the church of all ages accompanied it.

Also, from April 1st through the celebration, the Sanctuary and Memorial Hall will feature displays on History of Hudson Centre, Church History and artifacts, recent activities, and a Time Capsule.

Historical sketches of our church have appeared in the recent Church Newsletters. A number of church trivia questions were published earlier in the year and the answers are now appearing on an installment basis.

As part of this celebration, we are offering Historic Church Tiles and our Bicentennial Cookbooks for purchase.

The Historic Church Tile is a ceramic trivet with an image of our church and the dates 1805-2005. This can be used as a hot place trivet or a wall hanging for decoration. Available in white box for a price of $10, we also have a limited number of cherry wooden frames, which can be purchased for $5. Proceeds from the sale of tiles and frames will go to the church to help offset the expenses of our Bicentennial Celebration.

The Baptist Bounty Bicentennial Edition is collection of recipes from friends and members of our church that has been published by BAFTA. This 130 page, spiral bound cookbook is available for $9 and includes a Dedication page, Poem, brief history of our church, and an index. Proceed from cookbook sales will go to the benefit of BAFTA.
